Singapore GST Tax Invoice Template
A free, editable layout for a tax invoice issued by a GST-registered business in Singapore to a GST-registered customer. It has a field for each detail on IRAS's list: the words "Tax Invoice" in a prominent place, your name, address and GST registration number, the date of issue, an invoice number, your customer's name and address, a description, the GST rate, the total excluding GST, the GST amount and the total including GST. It also has space for Singapore-dollar equivalents if you bill in another currency, and for a 0% note on zero-rated lines. The template is a layout, not a guarantee of compliance: you fill in every figure and check which details your supply needs. It downloads as an HTML file you can edit in a browser and print or save as PDF. It does not connect to InvoiceNow and cannot submit invoice data to IRAS.

Recommended Payment Terms
IRAS sets when the tax invoice must be issued (within 30 days from the time of supply), not when your customer must pay. Agree payment terms with your customer and print them, for example "Payment due within 30 days of the invoice date", with your bank details. If you bill a standard-rated supply in a foreign currency, show the Singapore-dollar amounts too, using an exchange rate IRAS approves for GST purposes.

Tax Information
Singapore's standard GST rate has been 9% since 1 January 2024 (IRAS). Charge it on the value before GST, either item by item or on the subtotal, and use one method consistently. Zero-rated supplies, such as qualifying exports and international services, are charged at 0% and must say so on a tax invoice; exempt supplies carry no GST. Only GST-registered businesses charge GST. Registration is compulsory once taxable turnover is more than S$1 million in a calendar year, or is expected to be in the next 12 months. A simplified tax invoice is allowed when the total including GST is S$1,000 or less. InvoiceQuickly applies one tax percentage per invoice, prints it as a generic "Tax (9%)" line, copies saved tax IDs to new invoice PDFs and does not offer Singapore dollars in the editor.
Industry context (2026)
IRAS is phasing in the GST InvoiceNow Requirement: GST-registered businesses must submit invoice data to IRAS through InvoiceNow, Singapore's Peppol-based e-invoicing network run by IMDA. It applied from 1 November 2025 to companies registering voluntarily within 6 months of incorporation, and from 1 April 2026 to all new voluntary registrants. Existing GST-registered businesses join by their total annual supplies in 2025: S$200,000 or less from 1 April 2028, S$1 million or less from 1 April 2029, S$4 million or less from 1 April 2030 and above S$4 million from 1 April 2031. Overseas entities are excluded (IRAS, page last updated 8 October 2026, accessed 27 October 2026).
Worked example
Lim Design Studio Pte Ltd, a GST-registered company whose UEN differs from its GST registration number, finished a brand identity project for Harbourline Logistics Pte Ltd, also GST-registered, on 20 October 2026 (an illustrative example). Tax invoice LDS-0118 is dated 30 October 2026, within 30 days of the supply. Lines: brand identity design, fixed fee S$4,800.00; brand guidelines workshop, 6 hours at S$200.00 = S$1,200.00. Total excluding GST: S$6,000.00. GST at 9%: S$540.00. Total including GST: S$6,540.00. The invoice carries the heading "Tax Invoice", both companies' names and addresses, and "GST Reg No.: M21234567K". A smaller job of S$800 plus GST (S$872 in total) could go on a simplified tax invoice instead, with the words "Price payable includes GST".
Common mistakes to avoid
Showing only the UEN
When your GST registration number differs from your UEN, the tax invoice needs the GST registration number, clearly labelled.
Putting "Tax Invoice" in the footer
IRAS asks for the words "Tax Invoice" in a prominent place. Make it the document title.
Leaving foreign-currency invoices unconverted
On a tax invoice billed in US dollars or another currency, the amount before GST, the GST and the total must also be shown in Singapore dollars.
Switching GST methods between invoices
The item-by-item and subtotal methods can give different totals. IRAS accepts either, but you must apply your chosen method consistently.
Ignoring your InvoiceNow date
A correct PDF is still a valid tax invoice, but once your phase starts you must also submit the invoice data to IRAS through an InvoiceNow-Ready Solution.
Invoicing Tips
- 1Put "Tax Invoice" at the top in large type. IRAS asks for it in a prominent place, not in the small print.
- 2If your GST registration number differs from your UEN, show the GST number and label it clearly, for example "GST Reg No.: M21234567K".
- 3Issue the tax invoice within 30 days from the time of supply. Work finished on 20 October needs an invoice by 19 November.
- 4For a total of S$1,000 or less including GST, you may use a simplified tax invoice with the words "Price payable includes GST" instead.
- 5Pick the item-by-item or subtotal method for GST and stick to it. The two can differ by a cent or two on the same order.
- 6Check your InvoiceNow implementation date with IRAS's calculator. From that date your accounting software must send invoice data to IRAS.

Frequently Asked Questions
What must a Singapore tax invoice include?
IRAS lists: the words "Tax Invoice" in a prominent place, your name and address, your GST registration number, the date of issue, an invoice identifying number, the customer's name and address, a description of the goods or services, the GST rate, the total excluding GST, the GST amount and the total including GST. Everything must be on a single document. Foreign-currency amounts must also be shown in Singapore dollars.
Can I use this template if I am not GST-registered?
Not as a tax invoice. If you are not GST-registered, you cannot charge GST or issue tax invoices. Change the title to "Invoice", remove the GST fields and bill the price only.
Does this template work with InvoiceNow?
No. The download is an editable HTML layout, not a Peppol e-invoice, and it cannot send data to IRAS. Under IRAS's phased GST InvoiceNow Requirement, GST-registered businesses must submit invoice data through an InvoiceNow-Ready Solution. For new voluntary registrants this applies from 1 April 2026, and existing businesses join between 1 April 2028 and 1 April 2031.
Does this template calculate 9% GST?
No. You type the figures and totals yourself. If you draft an invoice in InvoiceQuickly instead, the app adds one tax percentage to the subtotal and shows it as a generic "Tax (9%)" line. New invoice PDFs print your saved GST registration number, but the heading reads INVOICE and the editor does not offer Singapore dollars, so it is not suitable for Singapore tax invoices today.
When can I issue a simplified tax invoice instead?
When the total amount payable, including GST, is S$1,000 or less. It needs your name, address and GST registration number, the date, a description, the total including GST and a statement that the price includes GST. The customer's name and address are not required.
