Argentina Invoice Template (Factura A, B, C Reference Layout)
A free reference layout that names what an Argentine factura carries: the class letter (A, B, C or E), the punto de venta and invoice number, both parties' CUIT and IVA status, the IVA breakdown and the CAE that ARCA (the Agencia de Recaudación y Control Aduanero, which replaced AFIP in October 2024) assigns. Read this first: in Argentina, IVA-registered businesses, IVA-exempt businesses and monotributistas must back every domestic sale with an electronic invoice or a fiscal controller, and an electronic invoice has no tax effect for third parties until ARCA grants its CAE. A file from this page, or a PDF from InvoiceQuickly, has no CAE and cannot replace a factura. Use it to prepare data for Comprobantes en línea or your invoicing software, to brief an accountant, or as the layout for an invoice from a business outside Argentina to an Argentine client. It downloads as an HTML file you can edit in a browser and print or save as PDF.

Recommended Payment Terms
Invoicing rules decide how a sale is documented, not when it is paid, so agree the term in your contract and show it, for example "Pago por transferencia bancaria a 30 días". If you sell to a large company as a MiPyME, a separate regime applies: since 14 April 2026 the Factura de Crédito Electrónica MiPyME is required from $5.549.862 upwards (Resolución 1/2026), and that document has its own acceptance and payment rules. For export invoices of services (class E), ARCA requires a field for the payment date.
Tax Information
Argentina's IVA (Impuesto al Valor Agregado) has a general rate of 21%, a reduced rate of 10.5% (half the general rate) for goods and services listed in the IVA law, and 27% for certain utility supplies such as gas, electricity and metered water to registered businesses outside the home. Which invoice class you issue depends on both parties: a responsable inscripto issues A to another responsable inscripto or to a monotributista (with the Ley 27.618 legend), B to final consumers and exempt buyers, and E for exports; monotributistas and exempt businesses issue C, or E for exports. Since 2025, invoices to final consumers carry the legend "Régimen de Transparencia Fiscal al Consumidor Ley 27.743" with the IVA on one line and other indirect national taxes on another. InvoiceQuickly applies one tax percentage per invoice, has no class letters or legends, copies a saved business tax ID to new invoice PDFs, does not offer Argentine pesos (ARS) in its editor and cannot obtain a CAE.
Industry context (2026)
Recent changes that make older Argentine invoice templates wrong: AFIP became ARCA under Decreto 953/2024 (24 October 2024). The Ley 27.743 consumer transparency legend became mandatory for all issuers from April 2025 (ARCA notice, 1 April 2025). RG 5762 abolished class M invoices from 1 December 2025. RG 5866/2026 requires buyer identification on consumer invoices of $10.000.000 or more from 1 July 2026 and adds newly obliged issuers in stages to March 2027. The Factura de Crédito Electrónica MiPyME threshold rose to $5.549.862 from 14 April 2026. Sources: arca.gob.ar, servicioscf.afip.gob.ar, argentina.gob.ar, servicios.infoleg.gob.ar. Worked example
Estudio Pampa SRL, a responsable inscripto in Buenos Aires (an illustrative example), designs a website for a client company that is also a responsable inscripto, for $1.000.000 plus IVA. In Comprobantes en línea it issues a Factura A from punto de venta 00003, number 00000412: net $1.000.000,00, IVA 21% $210.000,00, total $1.210.000,00, with both CUITs, both IVA statuses, its Ingresos Brutos number and start-of-activity date. ARCA returns a CAE with its due date and the invoice carries the QR code. If the same studio sold to a consumer, it would issue a Factura B for $1.210.000,00 with the Ley 27.743 transparency legend showing the $210.000,00 of IVA contained. A monotributista designer would issue a Factura C with no IVA shown separately. None of these can be produced from this layout or from InvoiceQuickly.
Common mistakes to avoid
Sending a PDF without a CAE
A domestic invoice from a registered business, an exempt business or a monotributista needs ARCA's authorisation. A PDF without a CAE has no tax effect, and the client cannot use it.
Issuing B to a monotributista
A responsable inscripto now issues class A to a monotributista, with the Ley 27.618 legend about the IVA credit. Older guides still say B.
Using class M after December 2025
Class M was abolished from 1 December 2025. Issuers under the old regime now use class A with "Pago en CBU informada" or "Operación sujeta a retención".
Leaving out the transparency legend on consumer invoices
Invoices to final consumers must show the IVA and other indirect national taxes under the "Régimen de Transparencia Fiscal al Consumidor Ley 27.743" legend.
Showing IVA separately as a monotributista
A monotributista issues class C and does not break out IVA. Adding a 21% line misstates the tax.
Invoicing Tips
- 1Identify the class before you invoice. Selling as a responsable inscripto to a monotributista? ARCA's current table makes that a class A invoice with the Ley 27.618 legend, not B.
- 2Small business with low volume? ARCA's free "Comprobantes en línea" service (with your clave fiscal) and the "Facturador móvil" app issue authorised electronic invoices with a CAE.
- 3Check every supplier invoice you receive with ARCA's "Constatación de comprobantes" service, which confirms that a document was authorised.
- 4Final consumer spending $10.000.000 or more? Since 1 July 2026 the invoice must identify the buyer by CUIT, CUIL, CDI or DNI (RG 5866/2026).
- 5Invoicing an Argentine client from outside Argentina? You do not issue a factura electrónica; send your own invoice, in US dollars if agreed, and ask the client which details its bank or accountant needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use this template as an Argentine factura?
No. Responsables inscriptos, exempt businesses and monotributistas must document domestic sales with an electronic invoice or a fiscal controller. Under RG 4291 an electronic invoice has no tax effect for third parties until ARCA grants its CAE. This layout and InvoiceQuickly PDFs have no CAE.
What is the difference between factura A, B and C?
A responsable inscripto issues A to another responsable inscripto or to a monotributista, showing the IVA separately, and B to final consumers, exempt buyers and unregistered buyers. Monotributistas and IVA-exempt businesses issue C to everyone. Class E is for exports. Class M was abolished from 1 December 2025 (RG 5762) and replaced by A invoices with the legend "Pago en CBU informada" or "Operación sujeta a retención".
What is a CAE on an Argentine invoice?
The Código de Autorización Electrónico is the number ARCA assigns when it authorises an electronic invoice. RG 1415 requires the invoice to show the CAE (or CAEA) number and its due date, and RG 4291 invoices also carry a QR code. Without the CAE the document has no tax effect for third parties.
What is the IVA rate in Argentina?
21% is the general rate. 10.5% applies to goods and services the IVA law lists at half the general rate, and 27% to certain gas, electricity and water supplies to registered businesses. Monotributistas do not charge IVA separately.
Is AFIP still the tax authority?
AFIP was dissolved by Decreto 953/2024 of 24 October 2024, which created ARCA (Agencia de Recaudación y Control Aduanero) as its legal successor. Many ARCA services still use afip.gob.ar addresses, and older regulations such as RG 1415 and RG 4291 remain in force with amendments.
Can InvoiceQuickly create an Argentine electronic invoice?
No. InvoiceQuickly creates English-language PDF invoices with one tax rate. It cannot request a CAE, has no invoice classes, legends or punto de venta numbering, and does not offer ARS in its editor. It suits a business outside Argentina that invoices an Argentine client.
