Vietnam Invoice Template (Hóa Đơn, Reference Layout)
A free, editable reference layout that names the details a Vietnamese value-added tax invoice (hóa đơn giá trị gia tăng) carries: the seller's and buyer's names, addresses and tax codes, each item with its unit, quantity, unit price and amount, the VAT rate and VAT amount, and the total payment. Read this first: since 1 July 2022, businesses in Vietnam that use invoices have had to issue electronic invoices under Decree 123/2020/ND-CP, now amended by Decree 70/2025/ND-CP from 1 June 2025. Invoices must be written in Vietnamese and amounts shown in Vietnamese đồng unless a foreign-currency transaction is allowed. A file from this page, or a PDF from InvoiceQuickly, is not a Vietnamese e-invoice: it is English only, carries no tax authority code and is not transmitted to the tax authority. Use it to check what your e-invoice provider's invoice should show, to brief your accountant, or as a quote or commercial invoice layout if you are a business outside Vietnam billing a Vietnamese client. It downloads as an HTML file you can edit in a browser and print or save as PDF.

How to fill in this Vietnam Invoice (Hóa Đơn)
- Download the template. It opens as an editable HTML file in your browser.
- Replace each bracketed field with your details. Totals are not calculated for you, so check the arithmetic.
- Print it or save it as a PDF from your browser. InvoiceQuickly does not create or store this document type.
Recommended Payment Terms
Vietnam's invoice rules govern when and how the e-invoice is issued, not when it is paid. Agree payment terms in your contract and state them on the invoice, for example "Thanh toán chuyển khoản trong 30 ngày" (bank transfer within 30 days). If you are a supplier outside Vietnam, ask your client which documents they need for their own tax filings before you agree the payment terms.
Tax Information
The VAT Law (Law 48/2024/QH15, in force from 1 July 2025) sets rates of 0%, 5% and 10%. Under Decree 174/2025/ND-CP, from 1 July 2025 to 31 December 2026, most goods and services normally taxed at 10% are taxed at 8% for businesses using the deduction method; the invoice must show "8%" on the VAT rate line. The reduction does not apply to the groups in Appendix I (telecommunications, finance, banking, securities, insurance, real estate, metal products and mining products except coal) or Appendix II (goods and services subject to special consumption tax, except petrol), nor to items taxed at 0% or 5%. Businesses using the percentage-of-revenue method reduce their percentage by 20% and note it on the invoice. InvoiceQuickly applies one tax percentage per invoice, prints English only, copies saved tax IDs to new invoice PDFs, does not offer đồng in its editor and cannot issue Vietnamese e-invoices. This is general information, not legal or tax advice; confirm your obligations with the tax authority or an adviser.
Industry context (2026)
Vietnam's e-invoice framework is Decree 123/2020/ND-CP; from 1 July 2022 enterprises, household businesses and individual businesses using the declaration method that use invoices had to switch to e-invoices. Decree 70/2025/ND-CP (issued 20 March 2025, in force 1 June 2025) amends 40 of its 61 articles. The VAT Law 48/2024/QH15 took effect on 1 July 2025 with 0%, 5% and 10% rates. Resolution 204/2025/QH15 and Decree 174/2025/ND-CP apply the 8% rate from 1 July 2025 to 31 December 2026. Worked example
Illustrative example: an interior design company in Ho Chi Minh City that uses the deduction method completes a design package for a Hanoi hotel group in October 2026 for VND 100,000,000 before VAT. If the service is not in Appendix I or II of Decree 174/2025, VAT is 8%, or VND 8,000,000, and the total is VND 108,000,000; if it were excluded, VAT at 10% would be VND 10,000,000 and the total VND 110,000,000. The company issues the invoice through its e-invoice provider, not from this layout, in Vietnamese with amounts in đồng, both tax codes, "8%" on the VAT rate line and the tax authority code if it issues invoices with a code. A PDF built from this page could still serve as a quote or proposal before the work.
Common mistakes to avoid
Sending a PDF or Word invoice for a domestic sale
Domestic invoices must be e-invoices issued under Decree 123/2020. A PDF from a template is not one.
Using 8% on an excluded item
The 8% rate does not cover the groups in Appendices I and II of Decree 174/2025. Charging 8% on, for example, telecommunications or real estate understates the VAT.
Keeping 8% after 31 December 2026
Decree 174/2025 applies until the end of 2026. Check for any later decision before invoicing in 2027.
English-only invoices
Invoice text must be Vietnamese. English can appear only as an addition in brackets or below the Vietnamese line.
Invoicing Tips
- 1If you sell in Vietnam, issue invoices through an e-invoice solution that meets Decree 123/2020 as amended by Decree 70/2025. Do not send this layout as your invoice.
- 2Check each item against Appendices I and II of Decree 174/2025 before using 8%. Telecoms, finance, real estate and metal products, among others, stay at 10%.
- 3Selling items at different rates on one invoice? Show the rate for each item.
- 4Write the invoice in Vietnamese. If you add English, put it in brackets or below the Vietnamese line in smaller type.
- 5Restaurant and café invoices must list the food and drink items; transport invoices must show the vehicle's licence plate and the route (Decree 70/2025).

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use this template as a Vietnamese invoice?
Not for domestic sales. Since 1 July 2022, businesses that use invoices have had to issue e-invoices under Decree 123/2020/ND-CP. This layout and InvoiceQuickly PDFs are not e-invoices: they are not issued through an e-invoice system, carry no tax authority code and are not sent to the tax authority.
What is the VAT rate in Vietnam in 2026?
The VAT Law sets 0%, 5% and 10%. From 1 July 2025 to 31 December 2026, Decree 174/2025 reduces most 10% items to 8% for businesses using the deduction method, except the groups listed in its Appendices I and II. On a VND 100,000,000 service that is VND 8,000,000 at 8% or VND 10,000,000 at 10%.
What changed with Decree 70/2025?
Decree 70/2025/ND-CP, issued on 20 March 2025 and in force from 1 June 2025, amends 40 of the 61 articles of Decree 123/2020. Among other changes, the buyer can be identified by a personal identification number or budget-unit code, food and beverage invoices must list the items, one invoice can replace or adjust several wrong invoices to the same buyer in a month, and e-invoices generated from cash registers connected to the tax authority now cover household businesses with annual revenue of VND 1 billion or more and businesses selling directly to consumers.
Can a Vietnamese invoice be in English or US dollars?
The invoice text must be Vietnamese; a foreign language may be added in brackets or below the Vietnamese line in smaller type. Amounts are in Vietnamese đồng, unless the transaction is in a foreign currency as allowed by foreign-exchange law, in which case the invoice shows the currency and the exchange rate to đồng.
Does InvoiceQuickly issue Vietnamese e-invoices?
No. InvoiceQuickly creates English-language PDF invoices. It cannot obtain a tax authority code or send invoice data to the tax authority, copies saved tax IDs to new invoice PDFs, supports one tax rate per invoice and does not offer đồng in its editor.
