UAE Tax Invoice Template
A free, editable layout for a tax invoice issued by a VAT-registered business in the United Arab Emirates. The downloaded file is headed "UAE Tax Invoice", and it has fields for each detail in Article 59 of the VAT Executive Regulation: your name, address and Tax Registration Number (TRN), the customer's name, address and TRN if they are registered, a sequential number, the issue date and date of supply, a description, the unit price, quantity, rate of tax and amount payable for each item in AED, any discount, the gross amount and the VAT in AED, and the exchange rate if you priced in another currency. The template is a layout, not a guarantee of compliance: you fill in every figure and check which details your supply needs. It downloads as an HTML file you can edit in a browser and print or save as PDF. It is not an electronic invoice in the PINT AE format, which UAE businesses must issue through an Accredited Service Provider from their go-live date (1 January 2027 for revenue of AED 50 million or more, 1 July 2027 for other businesses).

Recommended Payment Terms
UAE VAT law sets when a tax invoice must be issued, not when it must be paid, so agree payment terms with your customer and print them, for example "Payment due within 30 days of the invoice date". Issue a full tax invoice within 14 days of the date of supply, or a simplified tax invoice on the date of supply. If you invoice in US dollars, state which currency the customer pays in, and still show the AED amounts and the exchange rate on the invoice.

Tax Information
The standard VAT rate in the UAE is 5% (Ministry of Finance). Some supplies are zero-rated, such as exports outside the GCC and international transportation, and residential property is generally exempt. Registration is mandatory once taxable supplies and imports exceed AED 375,000, and voluntary above AED 187,500. A full tax invoice shows the rate of tax and amount payable for each item, the gross amount and the VAT, all in AED. A simplified tax invoice is allowed when the customer is not registered, or when a registered customer's consideration does not exceed AED 10,000, except for reverse-charge supplies. InvoiceQuickly cannot produce UAE tax invoices today: its PDF is headed "INVOICE", it does not offer AED in the editor and it copies saved tax IDs to new invoice PDFs.
Industry context (2026)
UAE invoicing is moving to mandatory e-invoicing under Ministerial Decisions No. 243 and 244 of 2025, as amended. Voluntary adoption and a pilot started on 1 July 2026. Businesses with revenue of AED 50 million or more must appoint an Accredited Service Provider by 30 October 2026 and go live by 1 January 2027; businesses below that appoint one by 31 March 2027 and go live by 1 July 2027; government entities go live by 1 October 2027. Business-to-consumer sales are outside the system until the Minister decides otherwise. The Ministry of Finance's guidelines (version 2.0, 26 October 2026) say PDF or paper commercial invoices must be replaced by electronic invoices once you are in scope (Ministry of Finance, accessed 27 October 2026).
Worked example
Al Noor Consulting LLC, a VAT-registered mainland company in Dubai, finished a three-day finance workshop and a written report for Gulf Freight Trading LLC, Sharjah, also VAT-registered, on 12 October 2026 (an illustrative example). Tax invoice ANC-2026-0318 is dated 20 October 2026, within 14 days of the date of supply. Items: finance workshop, 3 days at AED 6,000.00, taxable amount AED 18,000.00, rate 5%, VAT AED 900.00, amount payable AED 18,900.00; written report, fixed fee AED 6,000.00, rate 5%, VAT AED 300.00, amount payable AED 6,300.00. Taxable amount AED 24,000.00, VAT AED 1,200.00, gross amount payable AED 25,200.00. The invoice is headed "Tax Invoice" and shows both parties' names, addresses and TRNs and the date of supply (12 October 2026). Because the customer is registered and the consideration exceeds AED 10,000, a simplified tax invoice would not be enough.
Common mistakes to avoid
Leaving off the words "Tax Invoice"
Article 59 requires them on both full and simplified tax invoices. A document headed only "Invoice" is missing a listed detail.
Showing amounts only in dollars
Each item's amount payable, the gross amount and the VAT must be in AED, with the exchange rate applied if you converted.
Using a simplified invoice above AED 10,000
For a registered customer, a simplified tax invoice is allowed only where the consideration does not exceed AED 10,000, and never for reverse-charge supplies.
Missing the customer's TRN
When the customer is VAT-registered, their name, address and TRN belong on the full tax invoice.
Assuming a PDF will always be enough
PDFs work until your e-invoicing phase begins. From then, business-to-business invoices go through an Accredited Service Provider in the PINT AE format.
Invoicing Tips
- 1Keep the heading "Tax Invoice". Article 59 requires those words to be clearly displayed, on both full and simplified tax invoices.
- 2Show the customer's TRN whenever they are VAT-registered. A registered customer needs a full tax invoice once the consideration exceeds AED 10,000.
- 3Write the date of supply as well as the issue date when they differ, and issue a full tax invoice within 14 days of the date of supply.
- 4Priced in dollars? Show each item's amount, the gross amount and the VAT in AED, plus the exchange rate you applied.
- 5For a reverse-charge supply, show no UAE VAT and add a statement that the customer must account for the tax, with a reference to the relevant provision of the Decree-Law.
- 6Check your e-invoicing phase now. Businesses with revenue of AED 50 million or more had to appoint an Accredited Service Provider by 30 October 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions
What must a UAE tax invoice include?
Article 59 of the VAT Executive Regulation requires the words "Tax Invoice", your name, address and TRN, the customer's name, address and TRN if registered, a sequential or unique number, the issue date, the date of supply if different, a description, the unit price, quantity, rate of tax and amount payable for each item in AED, any discount, the gross amount in AED, and the VAT in AED with any exchange rate applied.
When can I use a simplified tax invoice instead?
When the customer is not registered for VAT, or when a registered customer's consideration does not exceed AED 10,000, unless the reverse charge applies. A simplified tax invoice shows the words "Tax Invoice", your name, address and TRN, the issue date, a description, and the total consideration and VAT in AED.
Can I use this template if I'm not VAT-registered?
Not as a tax invoice. Tax invoices are issued by VAT-registered businesses, and you must not charge VAT until you are registered. Registration is mandatory once taxable supplies and imports exceed AED 375,000. Note that the UAE's e-invoicing rules apply to business-to-business sales whatever your VAT status, from your phase's go-live date.
Does this template meet the UAE e-invoicing rules?
No. It is an HTML layout you print or save as PDF. E-invoices must be structured data in the PINT AE format, sent through an Accredited Service Provider. Businesses with revenue of AED 50 million or more must implement e-invoicing by 1 January 2027, other businesses by 1 July 2027 and government entities by 1 October 2027.
Does this template calculate VAT?
No. The downloaded HTML file is a layout, and you type the figures yourself. At the 5% standard rate, VAT on a taxable amount of AED 24,000 is AED 1,200, giving a gross amount payable of AED 25,200.
