Greece Invoice Template (Τιμολόγιο): Field Reference

This is a reference layout of the details a Greek invoice (τιμολόγιο) carries: both parties' ΑΦΜ (tax number), the invoice series and number, the issue date, the goods or services, the net amount per ΦΠΑ rate and the ΦΠΑ. Greek businesses report every invoice to AADE's myDATA platform, which assigns it a ΜΑΡΚ (unique registration number). Since 2 March 2026, businesses with gross revenue above €1 million in tax year 2023 must issue sales to other businesses in Greece, and to businesses outside the EU, only as e-invoices, through a certified e-invoicing provider or AADE's free timologio and myDATAapp apps. All other Greek businesses follow from 2 November 2026. For those sales, a PDF made from this layout or in InvoiceQuickly is not an e-invoice: AADE treats a missing e-invoice as an invoice that was never issued. Use this layout to check your data, as a courtesy copy, or if you are a supplier outside Greece billing a Greek customer under your own country's rules. It downloads as an editable HTML file.

  • Customer's ΑΦΜ or EU VAT number

  • Date of supply (if different from the issue date)
  • ΦΠΑ exemption or reverse-charge reference, if no ΦΠΑ is charged

How to fill in this Greece Invoice (Τιμολόγιο)

  1. Download the template. It opens as an editable HTML file in your browser.
  2. Replace each bracketed field with your details. Totals are not calculated for you, so check the arithmetic.
  3. Print it or save it as a PDF from your browser. InvoiceQuickly does not create or store this document type.

Recommended Payment Terms

Agree the payment terms with your customer and state them on the invoice, for example "Εξόφληση εντός 30 ημερών" (payment within 30 days) with your IBAN and the invoice number as the payment reference. Check the statutory late-payment interest that applies with your accountant before you add a late-payment clause.

Tax Information

Greece's standard ΦΠΑ (VAT) rate is 24%, with reduced rates of 13% and 6%. The European Commission's Your Europe VAT table (last checked 13 July 2026) also lists 17% and 4% rates for Greece, so confirm the rate for your goods, services and location with AADE or your accountant. Show the net amount and ΦΠΑ for each rate. A line without ΦΠΑ needs the legal reason, such as an exemption or reverse charge. InvoiceQuickly applies one tax percentage per invoice, copies saved tax IDs to new invoice PDFs, and has no myDATA connection, ΜΑΡΚ, QR code or e-invoice output.

Industry context (2026)

myDATA (my Digital Accounting and Tax Application) is AADE's electronic books platform. Businesses transmit their invoice data to it from ERP software, through certified e-invoicing providers, with the timologio app or through a special registration form. A joint decision of the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance and the AADE Governor made e-invoicing mandatory for sales between businesses in Greece and to businesses outside the EU. The first period (gross revenue above €1 million in tax year 2023) was moved from 2 February to 2 March 2026, and AADE reported in February 2026 that about 34,000 of 38,000 obliged businesses had activated e-invoicing. Decision Α.1197/2026 (Government Gazette Β' 5905, 30 September 2026) moved the second period to 2 November 2026, with a gradual phase until 31 January 2027.

Worked example

Illustrative example: Nikos Papadopoulos, a sole-trader IT consultant in Athens with revenue well under €1 million, sets up a booking system for a Thessaloniki hotel company in November 2026. Lines: 3 days of configuration at €600.00 = €1,800.00; staff training, 1 day = €400.00. Net amount €2,200.00, ΦΠΑ at 24% €528.00, total €2,728.00. The invoice shows both ΑΦΜ, series Α and number 0147, the issue date, the document type (2.1 Τιμολόγιο Παροχής) and payment by bank transfer within 30 days. Because the customer is a Greek business and Nikos is in the second period, he must issue it as an e-invoice from 2 November 2026, for example in AADE's free timologio app, which transmits it to myDATA and returns its ΜΑΡΚ. Only if he filed a declaration with a start date no later than 2 November 2026 may he still issue it through ERP software or the special registration form until 31 January 2027. If he billed a company in Germany instead, an e-invoice would be optional, and he would charge no Greek ΦΠΑ only where the reverse-charge rules apply.

Common mistakes to avoid

Emailing a PDF to a Greek business customer

Once your period has started, sales to businesses in Greece need an e-invoice. A PDF on its own counts as an invoice never issued, with a fine of 50% of the ΦΠΑ.

Missing the declaration deadline

Second-period businesses keep the transitional options until 31 January 2027 only if their provider or timologio declaration shows a start date no later than 2 November 2026.

One ΦΠΑ rate for mixed supplies

Lines taxed at 24% and 13% need separate net and ΦΠΑ totals. Do not apply one rate to the whole invoice.

Zero-ΦΠΑ lines without a reason

An exempt or reverse-charge line needs the legal reference on the invoice and the matching classification in myDATA.

Reusing or skipping invoice numbers

Keep a separate sequence for each series. The series and number feed myDATA's document identifier.

Invoicing Tips

  • 1Check which period you are in. Businesses with gross revenue above €1 million in tax year 2023 have issued B2B e-invoices since 2 March 2026; all others must start by 2 November 2026.
  • 2Second-period businesses may still issue through ERP software or the special registration form (ειδική φόρμα καταχώρισης) until 31 January 2027, but only if they filed the provider declaration or the timologio usage declaration with a start date no later than 2 November 2026.
  • 3If you do not want to pay a provider, AADE's timologio web app and myDATAapp mobile app issue e-invoices free of charge, including for public contracts.
  • 4Business customers in Greece must accept e-invoices. A customer in another EU country does not have to, and e-invoicing for sales to EU businesses stays optional.
  • 5Keep one numbering sequence per series. myDATA builds each document's identifier from your ΑΦΜ, the issue date, your branch number, the invoice type, the series and the number, so a reused number causes problems.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I send a PDF invoice to a business customer in Greece?

If you are a Greek business inside the mandate, not as the invoice. Sales to businesses in Greece and outside the EU must be issued as e-invoices through a certified provider or AADE's free timologio or myDATAapp apps: since 2 March 2026 for businesses above €1 million gross revenue in 2023, and from 2 November 2026 for all others. AADE treats a missing e-invoice as an invoice never issued.

What is the penalty for not issuing an e-invoice in Greece?

AADE says the failure is treated as not issuing the invoice. For sales subject to ΦΠΑ, the fine is 50% of the ΦΠΑ that should have been shown. For sales without ΦΠΑ, it is €500 per tax audit for businesses keeping single-entry books and €1,000 for double-entry books.

What is the ΜΑΡΚ on a Greek invoice?

The ΜΑΡΚ (Μοναδικός Αριθμός Καταχώρησης) is the unique registration number myDATA assigns to a document once its data has been transmitted. Invoices issued through a certified provider also carry a QR code that opens the document.

What VAT rate applies on Greek invoices?

The standard ΦΠΑ rate is 24%. Reduced rates of 13% and 6% apply to listed goods and services, and the European Commission's VAT table also lists 17% and 4% rates for Greece. Check the rate for your specific supply with AADE or your accountant.

Can InvoiceQuickly create a Greek e-invoice or send data to myDATA?

No. InvoiceQuickly makes PDF invoices with one tax rate and has no myDATA connection, ΜΑΡΚ, QR code or e-invoice format. It also copies saved tax IDs to new invoice PDFs on the PDF. Greek businesses should use a certified provider or AADE's timologio or myDATAapp.
