How do I get my PayPal API Signature

Paypal (Classic Interface)

To create an API signature for your PayPal Business Account, follow the following steps:

  • For live credentials, log in to your PayPal business account at www.paypal.com or login at www.sandbox.paypal.com if you are using test credentials. 
  • In the Profile menu, click Profile and Settings. If you do not see the profile icon on the top right, select Profile, which appears in the top menu on the My Account tab.
  • From the left menu, click My selling tools.
  • In the Selling online section, click the Update link for the API access item.
  • On the API Access page, click Manage API credentials.
  • If an API signature has already been generated, the API Access page will show a View API Signature link. You can use the existing one or can remove it and generate another the API Signature.
  • Select Request API signature. Then, click Agree and Submit.

Note: In order to create API Singnature, you must have Paypal Business/Merchant/Premier Account. 




Paypal (Latest Interface)

  • Log in to your PayPal account
  • Hover your mouse over the Tools menu in top navigation. In the sub menu, click on All Tools
  • Scroll the page till you see a box with API credentials written. Click on it.
  • You might see a left menu as well sometimes after you click All Tools. If that appears, click on Integrate Paypal and then find API Credentials Box
  • If this is the first time you are creating API credentials, complete the API Credential Request form.
  • Once you’ve created the API credentials, you will see View API Signature option under NVP / SOAP API integration. Clicking on that will bring you to a page as show below. Click on each “Show” link to see API username, password and signature.
  • Remember, API credentials are sensitive information. Store them securely and never share them with unauthorized people. In case you suspect they are compromised, immediately remove existing API signature and create a new one as shown above.
